Your Locations Team - Past & Present

About us
South West Screen is the development agency for film, television and digital media in the South West of England and it’s our role to make filming here as straightforward as possible. We cover Bath & Bristol, Gloucestershire, Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire, Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Our region is home to idyllic rural villages, historic houses, impressive cities and a natural landscape few can rival with 60% of the nation’s entire stock of heritage coastline (i.e some great beaches).

The Locations Team

Fiona Francombe, Production Services Manager
Fiona joined South West Screen as Filming and Locations Co-ordinator in August 2007, having spent over 17 years in the television industry. She was promoted to Production Services Manager in January 2009.  She started her career in theatre stage-management before moving into television, and joined the BBC as a Floor Assistant, working in the eight studios at Television Centre in London before transferring into the BBC Drama Department. In 1993 Fiona was allocated to Casualty as Location Manager in Bristol. She left the BBC to go freelance shortly afterwards and for 14 years based a very successful Location Managing career in the South West region from Bristol. Credits include numerous episodes of Casualty, I Saw You, Bertie & Elizabeth, Teachers 1, Servants, Afterlife 1 & 2, Persuasion and immediately before joining South West Screen she was responsible for setting-up the BBC series Lark Rise to Candleford which is entirely filmed in Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.

Joe Wheatley, Production Liaison Assistant
Joe joined South West Screen from Company Pictures where he worked in a variety of roles; most recently as Production Assistant. Joe handles the day-to-day location and filming enquiries and oversees the Locations and Crew & Facilities databases.

How we can help

If you’re considering filming in the region, South West Screen is your first point of contact. We can draw on our wealth of experience to help you find locations, production bases, crew, facilities, council contacts and more. We’re also negotiating preferential hotel rates for visiting productions and conducting a review on available warehouse space for set builds. We have an online locations library and a directory of crew and services.

And our services are free.
