Short Film Funding

We develop the region’s talent by investing in creative people and distinctive ideas. We want to spot and support talented individuals as they develop creative products ranging from alternative reality games (ARGs) to short films and from interactive content for mobile phones to online soaps.

We invest Lottery funds from the UK Film Council to identify and nurture creative talent. We also look for the region’s brightest new filmmakers for ‘Digital Shorts’, the UK Film Council scheme which encourages new approaches to digital storytelling for any distribution platform from cinema screens to mobile phones.

In 2007, K received funding from South West Screen through Digital Shorts Plus to make Detour. K talks about how Digital Shorts Plus helped him progress his career as a director and learn more about the development of a good story.
