Sanctuary, a short film by Sherylee Houssein, Simon Olney and Gurchetan Singh produced as part of the TOR development scheme

The South West is home to a multitude of creative businesses at the cutting edge of their fields, from website designers and gaming developers to animators and post-production houses. These kind of ‘knowledge-intensive’ companies are widely seen as those most likely to pull the UK out of the difficult economic conditions we currently face, so they are vital to the economy of the region, and the economy of the UK as a whole.

At South West Screen, we fund, support and campaign for these industries, and help to train and develop those who work within them.

Our role is to:

  • Influence opinion – we work behind the scenes shaping the decisions and policies which impact on your business.
  • Raise awareness – we highlight the importance of the creative media industries to the economy and culture of the South West.
  • Invest in creative people – we help professionals, newcomers and young people expand their skills and horizons.
  • Provide investment - we support talent, encourage innovation and help develop new ideas.
  • Connect people – we put people, businesses and organisations in touch to enable effective training, networking and knowledge-sharing.

Funded from three key partners - the UK Film Council, the South West of England Regional Development Agency and Skillset – we offer help in the following areas. Click on the links to find out more:
